Where does the time go

OK, so it has been a while since I put anything up...sorry it has been a little crazy around here lately. I have been busy working outside the home. Yes, I do other things besides being a mom and a photographer!!

Lately I have been Jodi the painter. What kind of painting?? So glad you asked. Well, I do house painting, interior and exterior (summer job during college). Who likes to paint? Me!! I find it very relaxing and exciting. You can do so much with paint for example my house is a museum of my painting skills. Strips, diamond patterns and fun textures are proudly displayed. But my favorite kind of painting is picture frames!!

You see it started back in 2008 when I decided to paint a frame for a friend who was having a baby!! I really wanted to give her a unique gift from the heart. So I painted this cute little frame with her husbands favorite hobby which is flying airplanes and wrote the word Blessing! It was a hit...soon after that I was painting frames for all my friends who were having babies. Which led me to start "Hanna Bean Design". I have done two home shows and planning to do another one July 28th. Painting these frames has given me the confidence to start looking at photography more seriously. I can only hope and pray that I can use both of these gifts to the glory of God. So here are a few of my frames!! Enjoy!

Two of my top sellers!!! Something about the retro look!!!

I can even personalize them...

stay tune...J

Mom's Journey

As most of you know my mom find out this past January that she had breast cancer. She is done with chemo and moving through radiation smoothly. I took pictures of my mom and us girls a month or so ago and just recently I spent some time with my parents in North August and decided to take some more pictures of her and my dad.
I am about to get really emotional here so sorry! I can't tell you enough how much I love my parents and how BLESSED I am to have them as my parents! Let me ask you a question....If you could rate your parents on a scale of 1 to 10 on how well they raised you, what would it be????

I was asked this question a few years ago in a Sunday school class. I sat there thinking to myself what number to pick and was leaning towards 8 or 9. I mean, no one is prefect right?? Well, my husband blew me away with his answer, " There is no scale or number, my parents did the best they could with what they had or knew" Are you kidding, that should be the answer for all of us!!! They did the best they could!!!
My parents were always there for me and they showed me what a marriage and relationship with Christ was all about! I will forever be impacted by that. As I get older this has become more and more clear to me. I love you Dad and Mom!!

On a lighter note my parents are celebrating 40 years of marriage this August! Yes, that is right 40 years and still going strong!!!
With my mom suffering from the effects of this cancer and chemo I have seen my dad be by her side and love her unconditionally. Mom I hope this is OK to say....I was there the day she shaved her head knowing that the chemo would take it so she decided to do it first. I will never forget that day with her or what my dad said to her that night when in the privacy of their own room my mom took off her wig and showed my dad her head...he said, " You have a beautiful head" and they embraced and shed some tears together. My mom was so worried about what he would think and 5 little words made all that worry disappear!! OK where are my tissues...enough already! My parents rock if I have not said it yet!!!
Anyway here are some more pictures of my parents celebrating 40 years and celebrating life after cancer!!!

Mom has gotten pretty brave when it comes to not wearing her wig so this night we decided to take a few shot without her wig. 1...2...3 and the wig came off!! This was my favorite picture of the night!!!

I loved all the color in this photo and just had to get them in it! This place was so cool and so rich in color!!

Here is my sassy mom!! Hair or no hair my mom is still beautiful and so amazing!! I love it!!

She is still suffering a few side effects as you can see with her arm being wrapped but hopefully soon this to will pass!

Here is a picture of my girls with their Papa and Grandee! Love it!!!

Bee Bee Girl

It is time for me to post some more pictures of my other kid....yes, I have another girl and lately Hannah is all over this blog!! Without wasting anymore time, here is Bee Bee my sweet girl who just turned 8 months old.

These pictures are her 7 month portraits....yes I am behind on that as well. Instead of taking them in the beginning of the month when she turns another month older I do it at the end. Cut me some slack peoples, at least I am taking pictures of my second and not leaving her baby book empty!!! LOL. Check out these checks!!!

A couple black and whites

These two pictures are by far my favorite. So sweet and why I love her so much!!!

So to make it fun my mom and I decided to add some props. The first prop was a alligator puppet. So play along...
Bria: what is this thing you put in front of me?

Bria: Oh, you are an alligator, what big teeth you have...

Bria: I don't have teeth yet but I can still gum you!!!! GRRRRRR!!!!

I thought that was pretty funny!! Ha Ha Ha

Then we pulled out some hats that belonged to my Grandmother, let the fun begin....

We were having so much fun with the hats that Hannah and Papa started wearing them too!!

I love what I do and the best part is capturing goofy faces, expressions, love, and smiles like this one!!!
I thank God all the time for my two wonderful girls! I have been so blessed!!
Check back later....J

Hannah Bean is Growing

Well, it has been a couple of days since I last posted anything. I have been taking plenty of pictures but have not had the time to post anything. Sorry!!
So, Hannah turned three in the beginning of June. I decided she needed to have some portraits done.
Lately pictures have not been easy with her! I don't know if it is the stage she is in or if I am not funny enough anymore to make her smile or laugh!!! So these pictures are few and taken over a couple of days! What else do you do when they won't smile...I know beg....please Hannah just one smile!!

Enjoy the silly looks and lack of smiles! LOL

Out of all these pictures I finally got one. Right when we were about to leave she said, " mommy take a picture of me" and this is what I got!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
This is my Hannah Bean!!! See, when she smiles her whole face lights up!!!
Stay tune...... J
